Following a run of acclaimed singles including Nothing Left, Anyway feat. Manga Saint Hilare, Step 1, and Sorry Mum, South London’s Crafty 893 announces his long-awaited new album 142 Grime Street with new single Wasteman Interlude feat. Paul Stephan.

142 Grime Street is a project that embraces grime’s foundations while refusing to be limited by them, the album sees Crafty bringing together a wide-ranging cast of collaborators across a body of work that moves effortlessly between grime, rap and sounds from across the UK underground.

Playing on the long-standing idea of “140 Grime Street” as the symbolic home of grime, a nod to Kano’s eponymous album and the prevalence of 140 BPM used in the genre, 142 Grime Street positions Crafty as a close neighbour rather than a permanent resident. Deeply connected to the culture and energy that shaped him, but equally committed to carving out his own lane, the album reflects an artist confident enough to move freely between scenes, styles and tempos.

“The title of this album was basically to state how I’m not explicitly in the grime scene, I’m just next door. I’m a neighbour. Sometimes I’ll come over and borrow some sugar or a lawnmower. But I got my own things going on in my own house. It’s a fun little play on the old school trope of 140 Grime Street being the home of grime. This album is created by an MC but again features a number of different genres all ranging from 140bpm to 150+.” Crafty 893

At the centre of the album sits Let It Go, a heavyweight link-up featuring grime royalty JME and Boy Better Know mainstay Shorty alongside rising talent Logan_olm. Bringing together multiple generations of MCs, the track captures the album’s broader spirit: rooted in grime’s DNA but open to wherever the energy leads. Sharp lyricism, natural chemistry and infectious momentum combine to create one of the album’s defining moments.

Across 142 Grime Street, Crafty demonstrates the versatility that has made him one of the UK’s most exciting emerging voices. Whether delivering direct grime cuts, reflective moments or high-energy collaborations, his approach remains consistent with authentic storytelling, technical precision and an instinctive understanding of what makes a track connect both in headphones and on stage.

The album follows a breakthrough period for Crafty. Step 1 received repeated support across BBC Radio 1Xtra from both Sian Anderson and Sir Spyro, with Sian calling the track “that song that’s been living in my head rent-free” before later describing Crafty as “one of the best next generation shouts we’ve had on this show.” DJ Mag also included the track in their ’50 Favourite Tracks of 2025′ roundup, later describing Crafty as “a shining star of grime 3.0” whose bars have already become “reload deserving” within the scene.

Meanwhile, Anyway feat. Manga Saint Hilare continued to build momentum across BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 6 Music, Rinse FM, Worldwide FM, Reprezent, Balamii and RTS FM, alongside editorial support from GRM Daily, British Hip-Hop, Earmilk, Wordplay and Off Licence Magazine. Each release has further cemented Crafty’s reputation as an artist capable of honouring grime’s traditions while pushing its possibilities forward.
