#WeStandTogether

Brighton is already covered in a sea of rainbows as the anticipation for Brighton Pride this weekend begins to grow.

Firmly established as the UK’s most popular international Pride Festival, Brighton Pride attracts a diverse demographic audience from across the globe and is singularly the most popular visitor attraction in the City’s event calendar. Brighton Pride’s sole ethos is to promote tolerance and diversity within communities and to organise inclusive events, they support local charities and good causes as a cornerstone of their activity, a ‘Pride with Purpose’.  You can find out more about Brighton Pride here.

The Pride celebration has it’s roots in protest and campaigning and this has been placed at the forefront of this year’s Pride, with the launch of the 2019 campaign #WeStandTogether, a call to action for all in the LGBTQ+ community and their friends and allies to stand up to all types of discrimination as thousands celebrate Pride and the advances in equality and inclusion over the last 5 decades on the city’s streets. The campaign will focus on some of the appalling hate crime statistics that are currently in the news, and call out transphobia, biphobia, racism and homophobia.

There will also be a lot of partying going on as part of that celebration! Our tip is the “1BTN At Pride 2019: We Stand Together” party at the Fortune of War on Brighton Seafront on Saturday, see their Facebook page for full details 1BTN at Pride 2019

All of us at Tru Thoughts are proud of the city we live in and the culture of tolerance and acceptance that Pride represents, love is love #WeStandTogether
