Flowdan features in Dua Lipa’s Glastonbury set
Dua Lipa’s Friday night headline set on Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage featured Flowdan’s “Welcome To London”
The Plastician produced “Welcome To London”, taken from the Flowdan album ‘Full Metal Jacket’ was included in a dance segment mid-way through Dua Lipa’s set.
Commenting on social media label founder Robert Luis added “Interesting to hear Dua Lipa use a section of Flowdan’s ‘Welcome To London’ track on her Glastonbury headline set. The original (produced by Plastician) is so good and I will always remember being really excited when Flowdan first sent it to me to check for his album on Tru Thoughts. Amazing to see how a creative track talking about real life has ended up being featured on a huge pop artists set at Glastonbury.”
Plastician took to his socials commenting “Dua Lipa incorporating my track with Flowdan – Welcome 2 London into her set last night on the pyramid stage was a moment!! She absolutely smashed it as well… Proud moment! First song I’ve been involved in to make the pyramid stage!”
Dua Lipa and Flowdan both grew up in London and have spoken openly about the creative influence of the city, including Dua Lipa’s co-produced documentary series about Camden. The influence of the city is prominent throughout Flowdan’s ‘Full Metal Jacket’ album which unites unforgettable characters in the grime scene today, linking both purists and its younger disciples. “Welcome To London” tackles the daunting nature of the city; one that may seem welcoming and beautiful to tourists, but not to those who experience it in day to day life. Shining a dark light on his hometown, Flowdan explores the melting pot of London and the instincts that bring its diverse population together “We might not always see or understand them, but everyone has pressures and because of this you must be versatile in order to survive”.
