Hot 8 Brass Band Announce ‘Take Cover’ European Tour + video for new single “Love Will Tear Us Apart”
New Orleans’ Grammy-nominated Hot 8 Brass Band will be returning to Europe in January 2019 following last year’s mammoth ‘On The Spot’ tour, which celebrated their fifth album of the same name.
Packed full of milestone events – including roof-raising sell out shows at London’s Roundhouse in April and at the Brighton Dome as part of the Brighton festival – the tour saw Hot 8 hitting new levels of renown as they continue to criss-cross the continents into the summer and beyond. Wherever they are, Hot 8 bring the unique, undiluted energy of the New Orleans Second Line parades and ‘Take Cover’ will be no different.
Stirring up excitement ahead of the tour, the band’s infectious cover of Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and heart-warming video, has gained early support including Rolling Stone, Offbeat Magazine, Huw Stephens (BBC R1/6Music) and Craig Charles (BBC R2/6Music). Known for channelling the joy and feel good sensations of their music into transcending any differences, this release is no different. Though a personal choice for Hot 8 Brass Band, much of the arrangement came from the reactions of New Orleans crowds; “Sometimes we play it on the streets people dance on a particular spot in the song and we realise that’s what we want to emphasise to be able to give something back to the crowd. In America today it’s so important to bring people together”.
