Following recent singles ‘hellooooo???? feat. Magi Merlin & funkywhat’ and ‘Podjab feat. Waahli & Jarreau Vandal’, Haitian-Canadian producer, vocalist and DJ, Gayance returns with ‘Better For My Heart’, a powerful vocal house collaboration featuring the soaring vocals of Judith Little D. The single offers another glimpse into the world of her forthcoming album ‘roaming’.
While roaming explores movement, memory and identity across continents, ‘Better For My Heart’ turns inward. Built around themes of self-preservation, personal growth and emotional boundaries, the track transforms hard-won lessons into a euphoric club anthem. More than a nostalgic nod to 90s house, it channels the spirit of New York and Chicago’s golden-era dancefloors while speaking directly to the emotional realities of the present day.
Produced by Gayance and elevated by Judith Little D’s gospel-infused vocal performance, ‘Better For My Heart’ arrives as a peak-time vocal house record with a deeper purpose. At its core is a simple but powerful message: stop making excuses for those who repeatedly show you who they are, and start choosing yourself.
The song emerged through an unusually focused creative process. Written and recorded exclusively during three consecutive Fall eclipse seasons across three years, the track reflects the transformative energy associated with those celestial cycles. In astrology, eclipses are often viewed as periods that strip away what no longer serves us, making space for necessary change. That sense of confrontation and renewal runs throughout the production, from its driving rhythms to its sharply delivered lyrical message.
For Gayance, the track functions as a personal mantra as much as a dance record. Addressing what she describes as a culture of “self-labelling” and “charm without safeness”, the lyrics call out the “masters of excuses” and those who enable harmful behaviour. Repeated over a relentless house groove, the song becomes a reminder to trust instinct, establish boundaries and move forward with clarity.
