Following the release of their debut EP Sip & Wonder, Brighton-based singer-songwriter Kyla Kilzer and Jersey-born producer Max Noir return with a new rework of standout track Break Through, reimagined by London producer brekkyt.

Since landing on Tru Thoughts, the duo have steadily built momentum around their hazy blend of alt-R&B, broken rhythms and introspective songwriting. Sip & Wonder has picked up support across BBC 6 Music, Jazz FM, KEXP, RINSE FM, RTBF JAM and Soho Radio, with Nemone spotlighting the project on Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6 Music show and Don Letts saying “Tru Thoughts strikes again” in regard to the original cut of Break Through.

Originally a trip-hoppy meditation on self-growth, cycles and learning to show yourself grace, brekkyt’s remix shifts Break Through firmly towards the dancefloor while preserving the emotional pull at its centre.“The vocal jumped out straight away,” brekkyt explains. “I pushed the tempo up and built a funky, broken groove around it for the dancefloor, with keys dotted throughout.” The remix leans into brekkyt’s signature palette of broken beat, UK garage and groove-led club music, transforming the track into a warm, late-night roller full of crisp percussion, swung rhythms and understated musicality.
