Lady (Laroye & Oliver Night Remixes)
Kumail

Released: 5 Nov 2026

Label: Tru Thoughts

Following the release of his sophomore album Mudbrown, Mumbai-born, Lisbon-based R&B/soul producer and vocalist Kumail returns with two fresh takes on standout track ‘Lady’, reworked by French DJ/producer Laroye and London-based producer and Tru Thoughts label mate Oliver Night.

A deeply personal ode to Kumail’s wife, ‘Lady’ explores love as a grounding force amid life’s chaos. Written around imagery of sun, rivers, rain, and earth, the original track draws parallels between her beauty and the landscapes of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where Kumail spent five years. On this new release, Laroye and Oliver Night reimagine those soulful foundations, taking the intimate original onto the dancefloor with two distinct, groove-led interpretations.

“It’s always nice to hear your music flipped in ways you didn’t expect. Big love to Laroye and Oliver Night for doing their thing with “Lady”. Two fresh takes for the dancefloor.” Kumail

First up, respected French DJ and producer, Laroye brings his signature deep-rooted groove to the track. Since relocating to the UK in 2015, Laroye has bridged broken beat, funk, and boogie across labels like Faces Records, MCDE, Midnight Riot, and Glitterbox, while his productions enjoy heavy rotation across BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, and Worldwide FM.

Completing the package, London-based producer Oliver Night offers a club-focused perspective on Kumail’s original composition. A former member of Roots Manuva’s Banana Klan, Oliver brings his signature fusion of broken rhythms, hip-hop sensibility, and jazzy house textures.

These remixes mark the next chapter following Mudbrown, which blended R&B, soul, funk, bossa nova, and heavy African influences shaped by Kumail’s years in Kinshasa.
