Alina Bzhezhinska and Tulshi present ‘Whispers of Rain’
The collaborative single ‘Whispers of Rain’ sees internationally acclaimed harpist Alina Bzhezhinska and Ibiza-based producer Tulshi deliver a composition that is both technically intricate and emotionally resonant, capturing the fleeting beauty of a rainstorm.
For Tulshi, the inspiration for Whispers of Rain came from a moment of quiet reflection. “I remember standing with a cup of tea at the front door, watching the rain wash over the hills while the sun shone through. Water dripped everywhere, the ground was sodden. It felt like a moment of deep gratitude—for the island being nourished, for everything being washed clean and for a great thirst being quenched.”
Bzhezhinska found an immediate connection to John Coltrane’s After the Rain, one of her favourite pieces. “The way Coltrane translated rain into sound has always inspired me. I realised how gracefully those falling droplets could be expressed through the harp and in Whispers of Rain, we created our own version of the rain.”
The track developed instinctively, with Tulshi first laying down a synth foundation that Bzhezhinska responded to in real time. “This track is pure flow state,” Tulshi explains. “Alina’s playing became the foundation for the granular effects, while the Mega FM synth added an organic movement that felt alive.” Unlike many studio productions, ‘Whispers of Rain’ came together effortlessly. “I didn’t plan how I wanted to play—I just let it happen,” Bzhezhinska reflects. “We never even needed another take.”
Bzhezhinska highlights the interplay between their creative approaches. “I love how we explored different harmonic layers after I recorded my melody. Tulshi added so many textures to strike the perfect balance. The whole process felt as fresh as the rain itself.”
Bzhezhinska has redefined the role of the harp in contemporary music. A composer, bandleader and collaborator, she worked alongside legendary artists including Brian Jackson, Chaka Khan, Shabaka Hutchings, DJ Spinna and Slide Johnson, performing across international stages. Her HipHarpCollective was named Best Ensemble of the Year at the 2024 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, following the success of Reflections (BBE Music), a critically acclaimed double LP awarded Best Album of the Year 2023 by Presto Music. As a solo artist, her duet project with Tony Kofi was described as “a masterpiece” by Downbeat Magazine.

His most recent endeavour; The Hub Ibiza Studios, has hosted sessions for artists such as Nathan Haines, Dennis Cruz, Joseph Capriati, Ben Sterling, East End Dubs and Skepta.
