Tru Thoughts LIVE WheelUP, Aurora Dee Raynes, Afronaut
Tru Thoughts Presents WheelUP, Aurora Dee Raynes, Afronaut (DJ) at Paper Dress Vintage, Hackney.
We will be hosting a Tru Thoughts party at Paper Dress Vintage for Independent Venue Week 2022 featuring three of our artists; a headline set from broken beat revivalist, producer & DJ WheelUP plus support from Aurora Dee Raynes and a DJ set from Afronaut.
WHEELUP
Influenced by the likes of Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, LTJ Bukem, Krust and Kaidi Tatham, as well as being personally mentored by Afronaut and Adam F, Danny grew up inside the epicentre of BRUK, being studio neighbours with some of the key players in the game including IG Culture, Bugz in the Attic and Goya Music (the leading vinyl distributor of bruk music).
AURORA DEE RAYNES
Eclectic north London neo-soul duo, the pair started making music with a few beats and vocals inspired by legendary vocalists Etta James, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott together with the musical stylings of Robert Glasper, Dimlite, Taylor McFerrin, Jordan Rakei and BadBadNotGood.
AFRONAUT (DJ)
Afronaut is a chief instigator of the broken beat scene, not only one of the best producers in the field of broken beat – a loose tag for a brand of heavily rhythmic breakbeat fusion that features chopped up beats – but he’s also been behind the formation of the Bugz in the Attic collective.
