Norah Jane & MOR.LOV

Biography

For Amsterdam-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Norah Jane, music has always been a natural form of expression. Having sung from a young age, picked up the guitar at 10, and begun songwriting and experimenting with other instruments soon after, her creative path feels inevitable. She describes her sound as laid-back, melancholic and romantic, though quick to add that she resists labels and prefers to let each track take its own shape. Her influences stretch wide, from Sarah Vaughan, Donny Hathaway and Gil Scott-Heron, to Amy Winehouse, Rita Payés and Nubya Garcia, as the threads that weave into her evolving artistry.

For MOR.LOV, Amsterdam is both home and inspiration, even as the city changes. A producer in the truest sense, he sees his role as helping artists translate their vision in full: “Of course there are moments when you just make a beat, but to me, it is more than that. My goal is to work closely together, really helping the artist express themselves, ideally across a whole EP or album.” His approach is deeply collaborative, shaped by experience and a need for music as both outlet and language, with Norah, it manifests as a smoky blend of jazz, hip hop, soul and R&B. A Minute captures the essence of how Norah Jane & MOR.LOV create: instinctively, collaboratively, and always in the moment.

Norah Jane joins forces MOR.LOV for A Minute, a five-track EP that drifts between hazy romance, dub-tinged grooves and soulful, melancholic reflection. Rooted in friendship and creative spontaneity, the record feels as much like a document of moments shared as it does a carefully crafted release.
