Sosyete ’25, a trio composed of songwriter and vocalist Merve Erdem (Kit Sebastian/Brainfeeder), guitarist and producer Glenn Fallows (Globeflower Masters/Mr Bongo) and producer and multi-instrumentalist Paul Elliott – who previously released the acclaimed Call Sender project on Tru Thoughts.

Their sound folds Mediterranean pop, modern left-field production and the poetic pull of Turkish songwriting into something vivid, rhythmic and joyfully alive. Their debut single “Bilmece” offers the first glimpse into the group’s playful yet deeply felt musical world. Turkish for riddle “Bilmece”, opens in a dream-haze. Merve reflects on the strangeness of existence with a delivery that is soft, assured and full of quiet intensity, moving with the natural musicality of her mother tongue. Paul underpins her with a tough, slow-burning groove, while the Lotar (performed by Dan Smith) hums with a ghostly, cinematic warmth. The result is a piece that moves between light and shadow, intimacy and motion, capturing the trio’s instinct for emotional depth within irresistible rhythm.

The trio formed through a shared fascination with sound that travels. Istanbul-born Merve, brings a lyrical approach rooted in Turkish classical and folk traditions and sharpened by years spent between Italy, the US and the UK. Paul comes from a background that spans DJ culture, studio craft and film scoring, giving the project its sense of rhythm, detail and play. Guitarist and producer Glenn completes the group, adding melodic colour and texture.

With “Bilmece,” Sosyete ’25 offer a first look at a project defined by curiosity, character and a love of cross-border sounds. It’s a confident opening chapter from a trio carving out their own space with unmistakable personality.
