Yan
Sosyete '25
Released: 30 Apr 2026
Label: Tru Thoughts
Following the warmly received singles “Bilmece” and “Oyun”, Sosyete ’25 return with “Yan”, the most sensual and immersive track from their forthcoming debut album Yaygara. It’s the trio’s final single before the full LP lands on Friday 22nd May.
Sosyete ’25 unites songwriter and vocalist Merve Erdem (Kit Sebastian/Brainfeeder), guitarist and producer Glenn Fallows (Globeflower Masters/Mr Bongo) and producer/multi-instrumentalist Paul Elliott – who previously released the acclaimed Call Sender project on Tru Thoughts. Together, the trio draw a vivid, borderless soundworld shaped by Mediterranean disco-pop, outernational funk and the emotional directness of Turkish poetry.
Meaning “burn” in Turkish, “Yan” is the most intimate and fervent chapter of Yaygara. The song explores love as transformation, devotion, longing and surrender, expressed both physically and emotionally. Its central refrain, “Yan, yan, yan”, repeats like a mantra, turning desire into something ecstatic and consuming. Vocally, Merve channels the atmospheric pull of ’90s Turkish dark pop, shaping a melody that is at once melancholic and smouldering. Paul’s production takes its cue from the vocal and bassline, weaving unison lines, counter-melodies and harmonic detail around Merve’s delivery, “I let the vocal and the bass guide my production and musical additions here. Picking out phrases to play in unison on other instruments and then creating counter melodies” he explains.
The track also features standout performances from two guest musicians: Michael Reed (Call Sender), whose dynamic drumming drives the arrangement and culminates in a thrilling final fill, and Dan Smith, whose hammond organ lines bring warmth and lift to the mix. Together they help push “Yan” into a space that feels both classic and cinematic.
Yaygara is a nine-track debut album named after the Turkish word for commotion, capturing the emotional, romantic and existential turbulence of modern life. Moving between longing, mischief, devotion and the unguarded joy of being overwhelmed, the record reflects the trio’s instinct for storytelling through rhythm, texture and melody. The Trio’s debut album is marked by its emotional clarity and its refusal to settle into any single style. Instead, it thrives in the spaces where tradition meets reinvention, where pop meets poetry, and where electronic groove meets organic instrumentation.
