Dead Silk – Rhi & Telemachus

Biography

The Dead Silk project sees Canadian producer, songwriter and vocalist Rhi working in collaboration with producer and composer Telemachus. A project built from mutual respect and a natural joy of working together, Rhi and Telemachus turn the dials up a couple of notches and invite you to behold Dead Silk.

The project follows the release of Rhi’s critically acclaimed, David Foster-Wallace-inspired sophomore LP ‘The Pale Queen’ and phenomenal debut ‘Reverie’ which saw support from the likes of Jamz Supernova, Phil Taggart, Mixmag, EARMILK, Lauren Laverne, Nemone, Cerys Matthews and Tom Ravenscroft (BBC 6Music), Jason Kramer and Garth Trinidad (KCRW) Benji B (BBC Radio 1), Toddla T (BBC 1Xtra), The New York Times, The Independent, Clash Magazine and Dummy. Based in London, Rhi (AKA Rhiannon Bouvier) continues to collaborate and create solo minimal, ethereal electronic soundscapes which range in style from bass music to hip hop and lo-fi.

From soaking up the frequencies of late-night Choice FM and underground pirate radio, Telemachus fell hopelessly in love with Hip Hop, Jungle, Dancehall, 2 Step and Grime from a young age. Descending into the UK Rap scene under the pseudonym Chemo, he worked with the likes of Jehst, Jam Baxter, Roc Marciano, Rag N Bone Man, Triple Darkness and High Focus Records whilst travelling the world in search of remote and diverse cultures and music. His releases ‘Telemachus In Morocco’, the “Banshee” EP and ‘Boring and Weird Historical Music’ have seen him cross genres including Trip-Hop, Ambient, West African High Life, Dancehall, Jungle and Folk. He’s garnered support from the likes of Q Magazine, The Guardian and The Quietus and has become known for his iconic and unique compositions.
