Fresh from the release of his acclaimed album ‘Inner Light’, West London producer and DJ WheelUP revisits one of the defining tracks from his debut album ‘Good Love’, delivering a brand-new remix of ‘Take Me Higher feat. Tiawa’.

Originally released in 2021 and playlisted on BBC 6 Music, ‘Take Me Higher’ paired WheelUP’s soulful, broken beat-informed production with the emotive vocals of fellow Tru Thoughts artist Tiawa. Five years on, the track is reborn as a club-focused rework, reflecting the musical direction WheelUP has been exploring across recent releases and in his DJ sets throughout 2026.

“Take Me Higher was originally written for my first album Good Love on Tru Thoughts,” says WheelUP. “Earlier this year I was invited to DJ at Brick Lane Jazz Festival and wanted to create a DJ tool for my set. While I was in the studio working with some acapellas, I came across the original project files for Take Me Higher and decided to flip it into a more modern version that reflects where my sound is heading sonically.”

Since debuting the remix at Brick Lane Jazz Festival, WheelUP has continued to road-test it throughout the summer, including appearances at Worldwide Festival, Love Supreme and on his recent NTS Radio show. The response has been consistently enthusiastic, making the release feel like a natural next step for a track that has already become a staple of his sets.

Retaining the uplifting spirit of the original while pushing further towards the dancefloor, the remix combines driving percussion, warm low-end pressure and euphoric peaks with Tiawa’s timeless vocal performance. The result bridges the soulful foundations of ‘Good Love’ with the broader house, disco and global groove influences explored on Inner Light.

The original recording marked one of the earliest collaborations between WheelUP and Tiawa, who first connected at the Tru Thoughts 20th Birthday celebrations in Brighton. Alongside Tiawa’s vocal performance, the track featured Nathan “Tugg” Curran, aka Planet Battagon (On The Corner), whose distinctive drumming has powered recordings and performances with artists including Basement Jaxx, Elton John and Kano, while also forming part of WheelUP’s live setup.

Released last year, ‘Inner Light’ marked a significant new chapter for WheelUP. Showcasing collaborations with Victoria Port, Steven Bamidele, Sean McCabe, Sio, Abacus and Liv East, the album saw WheelUP expanding beyond the broken beat foundations that first established his reputation, embracing soulful house, disco and globally influenced rhythms while maintaining the musicality and rhythmic sophistication that have become his trademark.
