Ebi Soda return following their debut UK tour with two reworks by longtime friends and producers r/Drumkits, bringing a fresh electronic perspective to ‘feely’ and ‘toucan’, originally taken from the bands acclaimed album ‘frank dean and andrew’.

The two tracks provide fertile ground for r/Drumkits to pull apart and reconfigure, translating the character of Ebi Soda’s originals into a more electronically driven world. ‘feely’ shifts its jazz-inflected melancholy into a skittering broken beat framework, retaining its subdued, atmospheric quality while introducing intricate percussion, clipped melody gestures and wealth of finely detailed sonic fragments. Sounds flicker in and out of the arrangement, creating a richly layered, constantly shifting sense of movement.

‘toucan’ takes a more beat-led approach, carrying its loose, fractured energy into a hip-hop and trap-informed territory. Rhythmic interruptions, percussive flourishes and manipulated vocal sounds become part of the track’s melodic and rhythmic fabric, giving the rework a playful, kinetic quality. Across both versions, r/Drumkits preserves the distinctive atmosphere of Ebi Soda’s compositions while opening them up to a more tactile, digitally textured form of electronic production.
