The track arrives as Kuna Maze’s first new release since his acclaimed sophomore album Layers, reconnecting two artists deeply embedded in the city’s vibrant jazz-electronic community.

Layers captured the improvisational spark of Kuna Maze’s live band and distilled it into an 11-track studio album that moved fluidly between jazz, broken beat, house and dub. Built on the smoky, electronic-jazz foundations of his debut Night Shift, Layers pushed further into live instrumentation and dynamic interplay. Marking a clear step forward, reinforcing Kuna Maze’s position within Europe’s flourishing jazz-electronic movement.

With the Patchwork Remix, Lefto Early Bird takes ‘Scraps & Pieces’ in a subtly different direction. Rather than overhaul the track with new additions, he set himself a creative limitation that would shape the entire rework. “For Kuna Maze’s remix, I decided to stick to the stems and not add additional external sounds or effects. My goal or the challenge here was just to make something different out of all the existing parts…” That decision gives the remix its quiet intensity. Familiar elements surface in unexpected ways, rhythms feel subtly rebalanced and details that once sat in the background take on new weight.
