Released for for Record Store Day 2019 New Orleans’ Hot 8 Brass Band present a limited edition pressing of the “Working Together EP” on transparent blue vinyl. The release sees label mates Wrongtom, J-Felix, Magic Drum Orchestra and Animanz remix previous singles “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and “On The Spot”. The record also features “Working Together”, taken from the Grammy-nominated band’s fifth LP, ‘On The Spot’.

In his reworking of “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, roots and reggae producer Wrongtom smooths out the funk from the original, replacing it with a softer dubby-groove that accentuates the signature horn solos. Taking a different approach, J-Felix embraces a hip hop feel, with added subs and additional guitar parts recorded by the multi-instrumentalist and producer himself.

“On The Spot”, highlighting a rich blend of horns and cheers, references the moment of brilliance in a New Orleans parade when the band stops to take a break but keeps playing their instruments for the crowd. Founding Magic Drum Orchestra member Glyn “Bigga” Bush brings his signature infectious, layered beats and a touch of samba to the track, while Animanz’ mix is part Latin reggaeton, part Afro 12/8 groove and plenty of bass
